'Black Atlantic' is a new outdoor public art exhibit that has just taken residence across three piers at Brooklyn Bridge Park and explores the concept of Black identity in the United States of today. Select screenings will also feature donation ticket prices with $10 from each purchase donated to the Ali Forney Center for Homeless LGBTQ Youth. There will be a live BDSM performance from Daemonum X and Sara Elise before the screening of Bloodsisters, a live drag and a burlesque performance from Switch n’ Play before the screening of Bound, an intro from Scream, Queen! filmmakers Tyler Ray Jensen & Roman Chimineti before Nightmare on Elm Street 2, and a brunch special created by local Park Slope eatery Dog Day Afternoon for the screenings of the film Dog Day Afternoon. It's not just about film this June, either. Film to be screened include The Living End, Bound, Set It Off, Born in Flames, Bloodsisters, and D.E.B.S., Dog Day Afternoon, My Own Private Idaho, Tangerine, a Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge, Poison, and an Anniversary Screening of John Waters’ Desperate Living. It will focus on films about queer people who commit crimes as an act of resistance (and sometimes just for the fun of it!). This June, Nitehawk Cinema in Brooklyn takes its LGBTQ+ Programming to the next level with the new 'Be Gay, Do Crime' a series.
